To rent a car in Montenegro is in most cases cheaper than making a reservation abroad. It is also useful recommended to compare prices and services. Some companies charge extra for insurance and taxes.

Insurance: Normally insurance covers only Montenegro. Whoever wants to go to Croatia or Bosnia has to buy an additional insurance contract at the boarder. (40 Euro for Croatia, valid 15 days.) Whoever wants to go to Albania or Kosovo has to pay a deposit of several thousand Euro.  Accident: Even if nobody is harmed it is a must to call the police. The policemen write a protocol which is essential for insurance companies. The police will not decide who has caused the accident. This will be done by a judge at the next municipality. The hearing is normally held the next workday. Even though it is recommended to write down the car registration, the name of the driver and the insurance number.
