Pljevlja
Pljevlja,
near the border of Serbia, is the northern most town in Montenegro.
The area of the municipality contains more than 60 percent of all
the treasures of the soil in the country.
The mining industry and the air
pollution don’t make Pljevlja a tourist destination, but it is
worth visiting, especially if you’re in the region anyway to see
the Tara Canyon (see National Parks).
In the center of the town stands the mosque of Pascha Gazi Husein
from 1562. It is not only considered to be an important Turkish
monument, but its 42-meter high minaret is the highest minaret in
the country.
